Taylor and Braithwaite’s 50th Anniversary Charity Ball

2017 saw Taylor and Braithwaite (T&B) into their 50th year of business.

To celebrate this anniversary Ian and Paul decided to host a gala dinner at the prestigious Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa. T&B set out to host this event not only to recognise their achievements over the last 50 years but they thought it would be a brilliant opportunity to raise money for a well deserving charity, Cancer Research UK (CRUK). The evening, which was organised by CBA Events, was set to raise over £25,000 for CRUK, a charity which aims to raise funds for outstanding doctors, nurses and scientists in order to find a cure and beat cancer sooner.

The Black & Gold themed ball was attended by 224 guests of T&B, the event saw friends, family, customers and suppliers from all over the UK and Europe celebrating T&B’s anniversary. Guests included T&B’s current directors, Paul Taylor and Ian Burton, as well as founding directors, Harold Taylor and Trevor Braithwaite.

The action-packed evening treated guests to a champagne reception, followed by a delicious three-course gala dinner with thrilling entertainment, which comprised of a disco, a magician and singing waiters. One of the biggest money makers of the evening was the auction of promises, where each of the 17 lots were generously donated by customers, suppliers and good friends of T&B.

The guests proved to be great company and very supportive to the evenings cause. T&B and their guests raised a total of £34,015.66p for CRUK.

Director Ian Burton was thrilled with the evening’s success, stating:
“We wanted to recognise this milestone and take the opportunity to celebrate with the individuals and companies who have supported us so far. Raising over £34,000 is an amazing achievement and just demonstrates how generous everyone has been.”

Sarah Mattison, Cancer Research UK’s local fundraising manager for Cumbria, was overjoyed with the support the charity received, stating:
“Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. However, we have only been able to achieve this thanks to the dedication and generosity of volunteers and supporters like the staff at Taylor and Braithwaite, without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”

Representatives from CRUK visited T&B recently to collect the fundraising cheque.
